Clearing mud all day
On November 4, present at Cam Thanh Primary School (Cam Binh Commune), I witnessed dozens of officers and soldiers of Ha Tinh Provincial Police helping teachers pump water and clean mud.
In another row of houses, many soldiers are helping the school move tables and chairs from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor, arranging the lids back. These are the tables and chairs that were previously moved to the 2nd floor by teachers to avoid flooding and damage.
At this time, a row of classrooms was still flooded with about 30cm that could not be cleaned. The schoolyard was still flooded with water about 50cm.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Son - Principal of Cam Thanh Primary School - said that due to heavy rain, since Friday (October 31), water has flooded the school, and students have to stay home from school.
After 3 days with the water level in the school yard of about 1.5m, inundated the classrooms of nearly 1m, on November 3, the water gradually receded, so the school mobilized all teachers, along with the support of many police officers, and the forces of Cam Binh commune's unions immediately started clearing the mud.

According to Mr. Son, with the support of meals from charity organizations, teachers, officers and soldiers had lunch right at school, then continued to clean up mud through noon, and worked until late at night to rest.
"In this situation, it is expected that it will take a few more days for the water to recede to clean up the mud in the schoolyard, then teaching can resume. We have made the highest efforts in cleaning and sanitizing the school so that we can welcome students back as soon as possible, Mr. Son shared.
About 1km from Cam Thanh Primary School is Dai Thanh Secondary School (Cam Binh Commune). On November 4, dozens of teachers, parents and soldiers of Regiment 841 (under the Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command) were also gathering to clear mud.
When it was already noon, everyone took the opportunity to sit down and eat boxed rice brought by the charity unit right in the lobby of the schoolyard. After a quick meal, everyone immediately started cleaning the mud.
Mr. Ha Van Sang - Principal of Dai Thanh Secondary School - said that during this flood, water flooded the school's classrooms by nearly 1m, and the schoolyard was about 1.5m.
From the morning of November 4, immediately after the water receded, with the help of the Army force from Regiment 841, along with the school mobilizing all cadres, teachers, and staff to participate in a general cleaning and mud cleanup to be able to welcome students back as soon as possible.
Police and Army help clear mud
According to records, when helping schools clean up mud, the armed forces also brought pumps and water tankers to clean up, so the cleaning was highly effective and less costly.
At Cam Thanh Primary School, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police of Ha Tinh Province brought a large-capacity pump with strong water pressure, so when spraying, they cleaned it very clean of mud and soil.
At My Due Secondary School (Cam Due Commune), water tankers equipped with large spraying hoses were used by the Police to spray mud in the schoolyard. Thanks to this modern means and the enthusiasm of dozens of officers and soldiers, the cleaning was effective, helping the school to soon reorganize teaching and learning.

I would like to thank the armed forces as well as the staff of the organizations and parents for helping the school clean up mud and recover after the flood. The workload is large, if it were not supported by the above forces, the school would have a hard time, the cleaning would be slower, said Mr. Nguyen Tran Quang - Principal of My Due Secondary School.
According to the report of the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention of Ha Tinh province, as of November 4, the whole province of Ha Tinh still has 21 676 educational institutions with 348 classes, 12,207 students absent from school due to floods.
Millions of arms turn to compatriots affected by storms and floods
Consecutive storms and floods have caused many deaths, missing and injuries; many houses and production and business establishments have had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage. People across the northern mountainous provinces and the central provinces are struggling to cope with floods and heavy losses in human lives and property due to floods and thunderstorms.
