Implementing the inter-reservoir operation process on the Red River basin, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) ordered the Director of Thac Ba Hydropower Joint Stock Company to close the remaining two spillways of Thac Ba Hydropower Reservoir from 2:00 p.m. on September 19.
In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also sent a document to the People's Committees of the provinces and cities of Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hanoi on ensuring downstream safety when operating Thac Ba hydropower reservoir when closing the remaining two spillway gates.
To ensure safety for construction works and riverside activities, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requests the People's Committees of the above provinces and cities to notify authorities at all levels, people, and organizations operating on rivers and riverside to take proactive measures to ensure safety and adjust activities accordingly; do not let people go to areas at risk of landslides or construction works under construction to avoid unfortunate losses.
