On the evening of March 31, a strong earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred in Guangxi province, China, about 5km from Cao Loc commune, Lang Son province, causing many people in the border area to clearly feel tremors.
According to information from the Institute of Earth Sciences (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), the earthquake occurred at 8:28 PM on March 31, with a magnitude of 3.1 and a focal depth of about 16.2km.
Although the epicenter was located in Guangxi province, China, due to its location near the border area, many people in Lang Son province still felt light vibrations.
Ms. Minh Chau, residing in Ky Lua ward, said that at the time of the earthquake, she was on the 2nd floor of her house when she felt a slight shaking.
At first, I only saw the house shaking slightly. When I went down to the 1st floor, I discovered that the painting hanging in the living room had fallen. Then I went on social media and found out that an earthquake had just occurred," Ms. Chau said.
Talking to reporters, a representative of the leadership of Cao Loc Commune People's Committee confirmed that there was slight shaking in the area, but no significant damage or impact was recorded.
