Willing to donate land for the common good
In the early days of April, being present in Van Ho village, it is easy to feel the urgent construction atmosphere on the road being expanded. From a narrow, winding dirt road, many sections have now been leveled and expanded.
The Van Ho - Suoi Chai route is about 7.2km long, connecting highland villages, serving the travel needs of more than 100 households and kindergartens and elementary schools.

Previously, this was just a dirt road, dusty in the sunny season, muddy in the rain, and transporting agricultural products was extremely difficult.
Therefore, when the road opening policy was implemented, people responded strongly. Not only agreed, many households were also willing to donate valuable land plots.
Mr. Chao Diu Ngan's family is one of the typical households when donating more than 5,000m2 of land. The land attached for many years, once a farming place, is now voluntarily handed over by him to expand the road.
“Before, traveling was very hard, making products was also difficult to sell. Now that there is a road, people can travel conveniently, and goods are sold at a higher price. For the common good, my family is willing to donate land,” Mr. Ngan shared.

Not only his family, dozens of other households also simultaneously signed commitments to donate land. Fences, trees, and even auxiliary works were dismantled, giving way to the new road.
Mr. Chao Lao Su - Secretary of the Van Ho village Party cell informed that when the village went to propagate to build roads, people immediately agreed. Along the village, there are currently about 20 households donating land. Among them, typical families donated the most such as Mr. Chao Diu Ngan's household donating about 5,000m2, Ly Cui Phu about 2,000m2.
When people realized that the road would help economic development, everyone supported it. Some households donated a few hundred, some households donated thousands of square meters of land without asking for anything," Mr. Su said.

New path, new hope
According to the design, the road will be concreted with a road surface width of 3.5m and thickness of 20cm. The State supports materials, funds for surveying, designing and building a drainage system; local authorities partially support site clearance, labor and land-related procedures.

People not only donate land but also directly participate in labor days, and work with construction units to complete the road.
Mr. Chao Cui Phu - Secretary of the Party cell of Suoi Chai village, Bat Xat commune said that the village has organized a people's meeting, widely consulted and received high consensus.
People simultaneously signed land donation applications, creating favorable conditions for construction units to implement the project. Up to now, about 40 households have participated in donating land to open roads.
Previously, people exploited cinnamon and raised sturgeon, but transportation was very difficult due to lack of roads and limited output. When there are new roads, growing vegetables, raising fish, and taking goods for consumption will be faster, easier, and sell at better prices," Mr. Phu assessed.

In fact, many households have clearly seen the economic benefits from the road. Not only is it reducing transportation costs, but market access is also more convenient, opening up opportunities to increase income.
From the construction perspective, Mr. Chao Lao San - representative of the construction team - said that this is one of the most difficult roads in Bat Xat commune.
Although difficult, people are very supportive. When we do it, we discuss with each household to agree on a plan. Many families are willing to accept disadvantages, donate land, and dismantle assets to ensure the project is smooth. We strive to complete about 2.5km before this year's rainy season," Mr. San added.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Chairman of Bat Xat Commune People's Committee said that the Van Ho - Suoi Chai road is of great significance, directly affecting more than 100 households with about 600 people.
When there is a policy to implement, local people have a very high consensus, creating conditions for the commune to start the project. It is expected that when completed in 2026, the road will end the muddy situation in the rainy season and dust in the dry season, helping people travel more conveniently," Mr. Hung emphasized.
According to Mr. Hung, the project not only improves traffic infrastructure but also creates motivation for economic development, contributing to changing the face of highland villages. From there, it brings a warm and loving life to the people.
In particular, the completed road will open up better learning conditions for students, creating a foundation for people to improve their lives and consolidate their belief in the Party and State's policies.
