On the evening of December 24, the Christmas atmosphere in Ho Chi Minh City became more bustling and crowded than ever when thousands of people from all over flocked to the city center to have fun, take photos and enjoy the year-end festival atmosphere.
Many roads such as Dong Khoi, Le Duan, Le Loi, Pasteur, Hai Ba Trung and the area around Notre Dame Cathedral - Ho Chi Minh City Post Office are crowded with people, traffic is slow, at times almost all vehicles have to stand still.
According to records, from around 6pm, people began to flock to the center. As the evening went, the population density increased, especially in areas decorated with lights, Christmas miniatures and large shopping malls. The Notre Dame Cathedral area was packed with people and tourists, many groups had to squeeze in step by step to move. Traffic police and urban order forces are being increased at key intersections to regulate traffic and limit prolonged congestion.
Amidst the crowded crowd, the Christmas atmosphere is still bustling with laughter, the sound of Christmas music echoing everywhere. Many young people choose costumes with the typical red color of Christmas, combined with festive accessories to take souvenir photos. Families take their children around Notre Dame Cathedral, taking the opportunity to capture joyful moments filled with sparkling lights at the end of the year.
Sharing with reporters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang (residing in Binh Thanh ward) said: "Every year, my family goes to the Christmas center. Although it was crowded and congested, the atmosphere was very happy, the children loved to see the lights and take pictures, so the whole family still tried to go.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pham Hoang (Binh Hung Hoa ward) said that crowding is inevitable: "The city center is a place with many beautiful decoration points, so many people flock here. Traveling is a bit tiring but in return, there is a clear festive atmosphere, completely different from normal days".
Many people shared that Christmas this year is a rare occasion, the whole city took to the streets to enjoy the festive atmosphere. Despite difficult traffic, everyone was excited to join the crowd to have fun and enjoy the sparkling scenery at the end of the year.
