The Department of Economics - Construction Investment Management (Ministry of Construction) has just sent a document to the Maritime and Waterway Project Management Board (MHP) requesting to speed up the implementation progress of the project to raise the clearance of road bridges across the national inland waterway in the Southern region.
The project to improve the clearance of bridges in the Southern region has a total investment of more than VND 2,155 billion. The project will build 9 new bridges and upgrade and renovate one bridge, dismantling one bridge. In Can Tho city and the provinces of Vinh Long, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap.

Specifically, build Moc Hoa, Sa Dec, Hong Ngu, Mo Cay Dong Thuan, Dong Binh, O Mon, Thoi Lai, Vam Xang - Thi Doi bridges; in addition, renovate Giong Dang bridge and dismantle Mang Thit bridge.
The project started in January 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2025.
Regarding site clearance, according to the Department of Economics - Construction Investment Management, in the past, the Ministry of Construction has sent many documents requesting localities to urgently complete and hand over the entire remaining site in June 2025.

Up to now, site clearance work at some bridges has had positive changes, such as: Mo Cay bridge, Dong Binh bridge, Hong Ngu bridge, Sa Dec bridge...
Regarding the progress, there are still some contractors who are still slow to implement the construction and have not met the schedule, such as: Joint Stock Company 873 - CTGT Construction (construction of O Mon Bridge), Truong Thanh Construction Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company (construction of Giong Gang Bridge).
The Department of Economics - Construction Investment Management requested the Maritime and Waterway Management Board to request the O Mon Bridge construction unit to mobilize sufficient human resources, equipment, and finance. At the same time, organize overtime and increase shifts to ensure the completion of O Mon bridge before December 31, 2025.
In case there is no clear progress, the Maritime and Waterway Management Board is requested to have a solution to transfer the volume to ensure construction progress.
