According to Lao Dong Newspaper at the O Mon bridge construction site (Can Tho City), there are many workers working actively in different positions.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Dung - representative of the O Mon bridge demolition unit said that the demolition work is taking place according to plan. Up to now, all the asphalt section of the bridge has been demolished and the unit has begun demolishing the concrete section of the central span bridge. It is expected that on the afternoon of July 8, the bridge girder will be dismantled.

In addition, the unit is also constructing the digging of about 70 piles in the riverbed and it is estimated that it will take nearly a month to complete this work. Mr. Dung also said that the construction process did not encounter any difficulties and everything went smoothly.


Mr. Huynh Hong Phuc - Construction Commander of the XL02 package of the O Mon bridge added that there are about 40 workers working in many different locations at the construction site. Many specialized equipment have also been mobilized to serve the demolition work, including excavators, bulldozers, barges and cranes.


O Mon Bridge will be rebuilt at the old bridge location, with a total investment of more than 135 billion VND, part of a level III road bridge project, with a bridge surface of 12m wide, including 7 spans, 3.5m clearance.
The project is part of the bidding package to build 5 new bridges in Can Tho City and Kien Giang Province (old), part of the project of Raising the clearance of road bridges across national inland waterways - Phase 1 (Southern area), invested by the Maritime and Waterway Project Management Board.

To ensure traffic during the construction process, from June 30 to December 31, 2025, the O Mon temporary bridge will be made of iron structure, consisting of 7 spans, built parallel to the old bridge, with equivalent width and clearance, ensuring two-way traffic.
The Project Management Board also noted that vehicles passing through the construction area must strictly follow the instructions of the regulating force and the sign system.
