The National Highway 91 Upgrade and Expansion Project (Km0 – Km7 section) is implemented in Ninh Kieu, Cai Khe, Binh Thuy and Thoi An Dong wards of Can Tho City. This is a group A project with a total investment of more than 7,200 billion VND, implemented in the period 2023 – 2027 from the central budget and local budget sources.
The project has an investment scale to upgrade and expand National Highway 91 with a total length of about 7 km, of which the road section is about 6.8 km long and Binh Thuy bridge is about 145 m long.

Mr. Tran Le Trung - Deputy Director of Can Tho City Department of Construction said that in the land handover work to serve project construction, up to now, 691/1,060 cases have handed over land, reaching a rate of 61.19%; the remaining 369 cases have not handed over land. Specifically, in Cai Khe ward, there are a total of 284 affected cases, of which 262 cases have been handed over land, reaching a rate of 92.25%; there are still 22 cases that have not handed over land. In Binh Thuy ward, there are a total of 776 affected cases, of which 429 cases have been handed over land, reaching a rate of 55.28%; there are still 347 cases that have not handed over land.

Regarding the arrangement of resettlement land plots, in Cai Khe ward, it is expected to arrange about 80 resettlement land plots in An Binh Resettlement Area. Up to now, 56/80 land plots have been received, and 24 land plots have not been received because they are waiting to complete the cadastral survey.
Resettlement approval has been carried out for 36 cases; in which a lottery has been organized and resettlement plots have been arranged for 34/36 cases, equivalent to 34 plots. Currently, there are still 22 plots that have not been arranged for resettlement.
For Binh Thuy ward, it is expected to arrange about 150 resettlement plots in 3 resettlement areas including: Binh Thuy District Administrative and Sports Center Resettlement Area (old), Phu An Resettlement Area and Long Hoa 2 Resettlement Area. Up to now, resettlement has been approved for 49 cases; a lottery has been organized and resettlement plots have been arranged for 45/49 cases, equivalent to 47 plots.

To date, construction contractors are focusing on materials, machinery, equipment and construction manpower at the construction site. Accumulated realized value of 84,961/1,547.242 billion VND reached 5.49% of the contract value. The remaining value not yet implemented is 1,462.281 billion VND, equivalent to 94.51%.
The project investment aims to gradually complete the traffic infrastructure on National Highway 91, improve the exploitation capacity and traffic connectivity of the area, meet the increasing transportation needs, reduce traffic congestion, and at the same time create motivation to promote socio-economic development, urban embellishment and improve the quality of life of Can Tho City residents.
