In the afternoon of February 25th, records at the An Phu intersection project showed that the construction site inside was quite deserted.
Machinery is lying idle, many crane cranes are "hanging", there is no construction activity. Only a few workers are on duty to protect and supervise the equipment.

The quiet scene is completely opposite to the crowded traffic, jostling and moving little by little through the outer intersection area. This is originally a complex intersection, connecting key roads such as Mai Chi Tho, Dong Van Cong, Luong Dinh Cua roads and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
While many projects and production and business activities in Ho Chi Minh City have returned to normal operation after Tet, the An Phu intersection project is still "motionless", causing people to worry about the completion progress.
Having to travel through this area every day to go to work, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh (Thu Duc ward) said that congestion still often occurs at An Phu intersection during peak hours. "Looking at the quiet construction site after Tet, I am worried that the project will continue to be delayed. We hope the project will be completed soon so that travel is less difficult" - Mr. Thanh said.

An Phu intersection was started at the end of 2022, with a total investment of more than 3,400 billion VND. The project has a scale of three floors, including a system of underpasses, overpasses and central roundabouts, and is expected to fundamentally solve the prolonged congestion at the eastern gateway of the city.
According to the initial plan, the An Phu intersection project would be completed by the end of 2025. However, the project was delayed and the completion time was extended by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to the second quarter of 2026.

Currently, some items have been completed and put into operation, including: HC1-01 underpass at Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection; HC1-02 underpass connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway with Mai Chi Tho road; branch of bridge N2 (turning right from the expressway to Mai Chi Tho); Ba Dat bridge.
According to the plan, the N3 overpass branch (from Mai Chi Tho street turning left to Dong Van Cong) will be opened to traffic on April 30, 2026.
Bridge branches N4 (from Dong Van Cong turn right to Mai Chi Tho), N1. 1 and N1. 3 (turn left from Mai Chi Tho to Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway) are expected to be completed and put into operation on June 30, 2026.

The N1. 2 bridge branch (from Luong Dinh Cua street to the expressway) is expected to be completed in October 2026. However, the progress of this item depends heavily on the site clearance of Luong Dinh Cua street.
According to the plan, the project needs to hand over more than 22,000 m2 of land in the first quarter of 2026 to ensure construction progress.
Before the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction issued an urgent document, requesting investors and key project investors to review the remaining workload and focus resources to ensure progress.
The Department requests units to develop scientific construction plans, proactively take into account unfavorable factors such as weather, material shortage; strengthen inspection, urging and organize continuous, uninterrupted construction, especially during and after the 2026 Tet holiday.
The Department of Construction believes that accelerating the progress of key projects contributes to helping Ho Chi Minh City achieve its double-digit growth target in 2026.
