On January 17, the Management Board of Construction Investment Projects of Gia Lai province is deploying preparations to build many resettlement areas to relocate households living in areas frequently affected by natural disasters.
Especially in communes along the downstream Ba River, where prolonged flooding often occurs, threatening the safety of people's lives and property.
During storms and floods in November 2025, many areas in Gia Lai province were heavily damaged, especially riverside areas and low mountainous areas at high risk of natural disasters.
Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has urgently directed the implementation of urgent projects, invested in 15 projects to arrange and arrange residents, and build resettlement areas.
The projects are implemented in the period 2025-2026 in 13 communes and wards including: Ia Tul, Ia Hiao, Ia Rsai, Uar, Ia Ly, Dak Song, Ia Dreh, Cat Tien, De Gi, Phu My Dong, Phu My Bac, An Hoa and Quy Nhon Dong.

When completed, thousands of households affected by natural disasters will be arranged with new safe and stable housing for a long time. Currently, localities are focusing on accelerating investment and site clearance, creating consensus and trust among the people.
In Uar commune, the project to arrange and stabilize people in the Nu village disaster area is being implemented drastically. This is an area that is frequently affected by rain and floods.
Due to the low terrain and slow water recesion, many areas were flooded for nearly half a month after the storm; the locality had to mobilize machinery to dig ditches leading water to the Ba River to overcome the flooding situation.
Mr. Nay Quyen, Secretary of the Party Committee of Uar commune, said that the resettlement area is expected to have a scale of about 35ha, meeting the stable housing needs of hundreds of households. The project is expected to create motivation to help people in Nu village soon stabilize their lives and gradually rise out of poverty.
In Ia Hiao commune, the resettlement project is also of particular importance in supporting people in disaster and flooded areas to soon stabilize their lives.
Immediately after the project was approved for urgent investment, the locality coordinated with relevant departments and branches to develop a plan to recover 15.5ha of land from 34 households, preparing land funds to serve the construction of the resettlement area.
