In the afternoon of September 15, a low pressure trough with its axis through the North Central region is weakening. Wind in the Southern sea area is weak. Above, the southern branch of the subtropical high pressure tends to encroach westward, dominating the weather in the South.

According to satellite cloud images, weather radar and lightning positioning, convective clouds are developing, causing showers with thunderstorms and lightning in many areas of Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring localities.

In the next 3 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop and cause showers, thunderstorms, lightning in many wards and communes such as Tan Dinh, Ben Thanh, Xuan Hoa, Binh Tay, Tan My, Tan Hung, Phu Dinh, Dien Hong, Binh Quoi, Hiep Binh, Binh Trung, An Khanh, Thu Duc, Dong Hoa, Can Gio, Thanh An, Nhuan Duc, Phu Hoa Dong, Chau Pha, Hoa Hoi... After that, the rain area is likely to expand to neighboring areas.

Common rainfall is 5-10 mm, in some places over 30 mm. During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (8-17 m/s). Heavy rain can cause localized flooding in low-lying areas.

According to forecasts, from September 17, a cold air mass in the North will strengthen to the South. Above, the northern branch of the subtropical high pressure will strongly encroach westward, while the southern branch will weaken and withdraw, causing the low pressure trough to move southward, crossing the Central region, then the South.

From September 17-21, the South has the possibility of moderate rain, heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms, with a common total rainfall of 100-250 mm, in some places over 250 mm.

The meteorological agency warns that heavy rain may cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas, industrial parks, riverside areas, and canals. In thunderstorms, continue to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
