According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, at about 4:50 pm on July 24, monitoring on satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning positioning showed that thunderstorm clouds are developing strongly, causing showers with thunderstorms and lightning in many localities in the South and Central Highlands, including Can Tho City, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, An Giang, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and Lam Dong.
In the next 0-3 hours, thunderstorms will continue to develop, causing showers and thunderstorms in the above areas, then tend to expand to neighboring localities. Common rainfall is from 10-30 mm, in some places over 30 mm.
The meteorological agency warns that during thunderstorms, it is necessary to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail, strong gusts of wind at level 5-8 (8-21 m/s). Heavy rain in a short time can also cause localized flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas.
In addition, due to the influence of Typhoon Noul's circulation, the southwest monsoon in the southern sea area will gradually strengthen with moderate to strong intensity.
On land, rain in the Southern region tends to increase and occur on a large scale. From now until July 29, the total rainfall is commonly 100-200 mm, concentrated in localities such as Dong Nai, An Giang, Ca Mau, Lam Dong and some neighboring areas.
Prolonged rain increases the risk of flooding in low-lying areas, landslides in hilly areas and affects traffic.
