On May 28, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Plan No. 149/KH-UBND on the implementation of the Project to develop a public transport system using buses using electricity and green energy.
According to the plan, Hanoi City is determined to complete the conversion of all buses in the city to electricity and green energy by 2030. In particular, in the central urban area and the inner city ( Within Ring Road 4), all buses in operation will have to switch to electric buses to meet the requirements of developing green, modern and sustainable transportation.
The implementation roadmap is as follows:
2025-2026: Hanoi will complete mechanisms and policies to support businesses in converting vehicles to electric and green energy buses; at the same time, expand the green bus network and build electric charging stations (including express charging stations).
It is expected that the proportion of buses converted in 2025 will reach 10%, in 2026 it will reach from 20% to 23%.
Phase 20272030: Continue to convert according to the roadmap, ensuring that 100% of current buses using gasoline and diesel will switch to using electricity or green energy by 2030 at the latest.
The estimated conversion rate is 34% to 39% in 2027; 47% to 54% in 2028; 79% to 89% in 2029 and will reach 100% in 2030.
