Phu My bridge spans the Saigon River, playing an important link on Ring Road 2 connecting the East and South of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the implemented construction plan, from May 30 to July 11, Phu My bridge will enter the bridge deck and expansion joint system repair phase. Functional units will carry out rolling repairs of these items in the direction of traffic from Cat Lai area towards Tan Thuan ward.

Real-world records at the construction site show that the construction area on Phu My bridge has now been fenced off with hard medians, causing a part of the lane for cars and motorbikes to be narrowed to serve repair work.

Inside the barricade area, dozens of workers and specialized machinery are focusing on peeling off the old asphalt concrete layer to treat the road surface, and at the same time replace the tensile joints that have deteriorated after many years of operation. Workers are divided into shifts to work continuously to speed up progress and minimize the time affecting traffic activities on the city's main road.

Because it is a route directly connecting Cat Lai port with the Southern area of Ho Chi Minh City, Phu My bridge bears tens of thousands of vehicles passing through every day, of which the majority are heavy trucks and container trucks.
The bridge is about 2km long, especially the sloping section at both ends of the bridge, which is inherently at high risk of traffic collisions because vehicles easily accelerate due to inertia when going downhill, and congestion often occurs for many hours whenever problems occur.
Although the vehicle density is high and traffic pressure shows signs of slight congestion during peak hours in the morning and afternoon, the flow of vehicles still maintains stable travel speed and there has been no prolonged congestion in recent days.
This result was achieved thanks to functional agencies proactively installing remote warning information boards in the access area to the bridge and at the foot of the bridge in Tan Thuan ward so that drivers can clearly understand the construction time and scope of barriers.
At both ends of the construction site, traffic controllers are also arranged to be on duty continuously to divert traffic and support vehicles to travel safely. Thanks to early traffic organization plans, many drivers have proactively reduced speed, maintained safe distances or chosen suitable alternative routes, helping to reduce direct pressure on the construction area.
Phu My bridge was officially put into operation in 2009 with a total investment of more than 2,000 billion VND.
After more than 15 years of continuous operation with increasing traffic volume, this periodic repair is considered necessary to ensure structural safety of the project and maintain stable operating capacity in the coming time. Previously, in July 2022, Phu My bridge was also repaired with the expansion joint system for a period of three months.

According to the announced plan, the maintenance and repair of the bridge deck this time will last until July 11. Throughout the construction period, functional agencies recommend that people should proactively monitor the traffic situation closely, flexibly choose appropriate travel routes and strictly comply with the guidance of the regulating force when traveling through the Phu My bridge area.
