On July 8, Road Traffic Police Team No. 5 - Traffic Police Department, Hanoi Police coordinated with Long Bien Ward Police to patrol, control, and handle the situation of car and passenger car drivers stopping and parking along National Highway 1B (entrance to Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway).
During the patrol, the working group discovered and issued fines for many bus drivers who violated the law.
"Most drivers who are fined have given enough reasons, such as stopping for a few minutes to let customers buy guava and drinks before entering the highway.
However, we are determined to handle it, because this is a cause of traffic congestion and insecurity, especially when vehicles are traveling quite fast," said Major Dang Tuan Long, an officer of Road Traffic Police Team No. 5.

According to the representative of Long Bien Ward Police, the section of National Highway 1B near the foot of Thanh Tri Bridge (in front of the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway entrance) has a median strip separating it from the residential road, but many people still deliberately do business (mainly selling guava and drinks).
Some people set up tents to cover it. When the ward police force checked and handled the situation, they cleared it and left.
However, as soon as the authorities left, the above situation recurred.

In the coming time, Hanoi Traffic Police and the ward police in charge of the area will continue to patrol mobilely, resolutely handling the situation of street vending along National Highway 1B and around the access road to the expressway.
Decree 168/2024/ND-CP regulating administrative sanctions for violations of road traffic order and safety stipulates the use of roadways and sidewalks for other purposes.
Accordingly, the current popular situation is street vending or selling other small-scale goods on the road, on the sidewalks of streets with regulations prohibiting sales, and will be fined 200,000 - 250,000 VND.
Meanwhile, parking in areas with prohibition signs will be subject to a fine of VND800,000 to VND1 million.
It is known that each month, the Hanoi Traffic Police force fines more than 30 cases of violations of stopping and parking in areas near the entrance to the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway.
