At noon on July 10, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Ngo Thi Sam - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak To Commune, Quang Ngai Province - said that the authorities had just discovered many tamarind trees along Provincial Road 672 with peeled trees in large branches. After the discovery, the authorities took timely remedial measures to continue developing these tamarind trees.

According to Ms. Sam, on July 9, the verification process of the incident involved 3 tamarind trees with scraped cover. The age of these trees is less than a hundred years. Two households admitted to peeling large branches of the tamarind plant. Households explained that because the tamarind canopy is too large, covering most of the rice fields below, the rice has developed poorly, reducing productivity.
The local government has invited related households to work. During the working process, the two households admitted that their actions were wrong, and pledged to the authorities not to repeat the offense and to take care of the tamarind trees so that they could continue to grow.
"In the long term, if there is a mechanism, it will support people when rice fields lose productivity due to the cover of tamarind trees" - Ms. Sam said.
