As one of the province's key projects with the goal of inter-regional connectivity, the Bac Giang - Thai Nguyen - Vinh Phuc connecting route is expected to create a traffic axis, promoting economic and social development.
The project started construction in May 2022 with a total length of more than 42.5km, a total investment of more than VND 4,200 billion, invested by the Thai Nguyen Provincial Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board.

According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in mid-August 2025, after more than 3 years of implementation, the shape of the road has been revealed.
At the end of the route connecting to Phu Tho province (formerly Vinh Phuc province), workers are handling the slope and locations at risk of landslides.
At the same time, a drainage system and slope reinforcement are being deployed to ensure safety.

Informing reporters, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Traffic and Agricultural Works said that there are currently dozens of vehicles and machines on the entire route under continuous construction.
The construction teams have basically completed the asphalt concrete pavement, installed guardrails, signs, and lighting systems. The site clearance work has reached 99.94%, with only 26 households remaining behind.
The progress of main items such as: roadbed is nearly 100%, foundation level of type II crushed stone is 97.01%, type I is 96.3%, asphalt concrete road surface is 96.3%.
Three large bridges have completed 95.03%, the basic items of culverts, underpasses, and retaining walls are completed.

Previously, Mr. Pham Hoang Son - Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee said that this is a strategic project that helps shorten travel time, reduce traffic pressure, and open new development space for the locality.
The provincial leader requested investors to mobilize maximum human resources and equipment, coordinate with departments and branches to remove obstacles, ensure progress and quality. The entire route is expected to be technically open to traffic on August 19, 2025.
When put into operation, the route will become an important link in the inter-regional transport network, opening up opportunities to attract investment, develop trade, services and industry, contributing to changing the economic landscape of the region.
