The inter-regional traffic road project connecting Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70B, National Highway 32C of Phu Tho province to Yen Bai province (now Lao Cai province) - has a total investment after adjustment of 2,120 billion VND.
After more than 5 years of construction, more than 53km of the main route has been handed over and put into operation (from 2024). However, to date, the section from Km0 (intersecting with National Highway 32C to Thanh Son) to Km2+452 of the main route is still under construction, belonging to Van Xuan commune (Lam Son commune, former Tam Nong district).

According to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in mid-January 2026, the above-mentioned section is under construction to dig up the roadbed, spread crushed stone, and some sections have been asphalted.
It can be seen that some sections are constructed clinging to the old asphalt road, the remaining sections are completely newly built, passing through fields, hills, and ponds in the area.

At old asphalt road sections, because they are still meeting the travel needs of people, there are many vehicles passing through. Some sections are now degraded and damaged with many potholes, craters, asphalt road surface peeling off, sticking with a lot of mud...
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - a resident living in Xuan Lung commune (Phu Tho) - shared: "I regularly carry goods from Lam Thao across Phong Chau bridge to enter the inter-regional road to Cam Khe, this 2-km section of road is dusty and muddy, muddy in rain, difficult to travel, especially for cars with low ground clearance and motorbikes. I hope this section of road will be completed soon, connected to the extended inter-regional road across Phong Chau bridge, which will be very beautiful and convenient.

Like the rest of the main inter-regional road, the above-mentioned section is designed according to the scale of a level III mountain road, with a design speed of 60 km/h. When put into use, it will help the entire main road be smooth, connecting directly with the extended inter-regional road connecting National Highway 32, Phong Chau bridge currently under construction.
The end point of this section (Km2+420) intersects with provincial road 315, which is also the end point of the Investment Project to Renovate and Upgrade Provincial Road 315 connecting National Highway 32C with the inter-regional road of Phu Tho province to Yen Bai province - a project with a total investment of 120 billion VND invested by Van Xuan Commune People's Committee, currently in the process of selecting contractors.

At noon on January 20, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Do The Nam - Deputy Director of Phu Tho Regional Project Management Board - said that with the construction deadline until June 30, 2026, the above-mentioned section is still meeting the allowed progress.
According to Mr. Nam, the investor will request the contractor to strengthen handling and overcome the damage to the old road, causing difficulties in travel as well as dust, ensuring maximum limiting the impact on people during construction.
It is expected that by the end of this week, the remaining 600m of road surface will be asphalted, striving before the Lunar New Year, the road section will be completed, and people can travel on the new road" - Mr. Nam informed.
