According to Mr. Chua, the flood from July 16 to 17 has caused more than 200 landslide points to appear on the entire route, many sections were completely swept away, causing traffic to be paralyzed and many villages and hamlets to be isolated.
Since the natural disaster occurred, the locality has mobilized more than 3,000 people and many forces to participate in overcoming the consequences. We have added 2 excavators to level and open roads, but the volume of soil and rock is too large, so the traffic flow has not yet been completed.
Currently, people in isolated villages still have to receive food and necessities through the route from Lai Chau province," Mr. Giang A Chua said.
Not only facing traffic congestion, many people in the most remote highland communes of Lao Cai province are still living in anxiety as the risk of landslides is still present.
After many days of heavy rain, in many areas of Lao Chai commune, cracks on the mountainside, positive taluy and soil foundation are still unstable.
According to local statistics, the recent rain and floods have affected 220 houses, of which 35 households had to be urgently relocated from dangerous areas.
In Hu Tru Linh village, Mr. Lo A Sung has just dismantled his house that has been attached for 14 years after the embankment behind appeared many large cracks, with the risk of collapsing at any time.
The family is very sorry that the house has been attached for many years, but life is the most important thing. We just hope to soon be arranged a new place to live to feel secure in doing business and stabilizing our lives," Mr. Sung shared.

Having saved up for so many years to build a house, but after just one rain and flood, everything was lost. What I hope most is to have a safe place to live so that my family can live in peace," Mr. Chua choked up.
Local authorities said that in Hu Tru Linh village alone, 46 households were affected, of which 7 households had to be urgently relocated, and many houses were damaged from 30-75%.
While urgently overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, the problem of finding new housing for households in dangerous areas is posing many challenges.
Due to the steep hilly terrain, the land fund is flat, and the conditions for resettlement are very limited.
The selection of new locations must simultaneously meet many criteria such as being in accordance with planning, ensuring safety against natural disaster risks, and meeting the conditions for issuing land use right certificates so that people can feel secure and settle down for a long time.
The locality is continuing to review suitable areas to propose to competent authorities for consideration. The goal is not to let people continue to live in landslide-prone areas, and at the same time create conditions for people to soon stabilize their lives and restore production," added the leader of Che Tao commune.
