According to information from Vinh Hung Commune People's Committee, the incident occurred at about 3 pm on April 12 on the Lo Gach riverside road. This is a road section with a width of about 5m, suddenly experiencing strong subsidence, the roadbed was lowered by nearly 2m, creating a dangerous area stretching.
Immediately after discovering the incident, local authorities mobilized local forces to erect barricades, stretch warning ropes at both ends of the route, and at the same time assign people to be on duty, absolutely not allowing people and vehicles to move through the affected area. There were no vehicles circulating at the time of the incident, so no casualties or property damage was recorded.
Representatives of Vinh Hung Commune People's Committee said that initial identification of the cause may be due to weak soil foundation, plus the characteristics of the riverside area being frequently affected by currents and geological fluctuations. However, the specific cause is still being further surveyed and assessed by specialized agencies.
It is known that the Lo Gach riverside road project is managed by the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province. It is expected that in the afternoon of April 13, functional forces of the department will be present at the scene to inspect the site, measure the current situation, and thereby propose solutions to handle and overcome the incident.
Notably, according to local authorities, on the same road, a subsidence section about 40m long had previously appeared and had been handled by relevant units. However, the phenomenon continues to recur in other locations, increasing the risk of traffic unsafety and affecting the lives of people in the area.
Currently, the subsided area is still being blocked to ensure safety. Local authorities recommend that people not access dangerous areas while waiting for an official remedial plan from functional agencies.
