At 7:00 a.m. on June 29, the upstream water level of Tuyen Quang Lake was at 107.26 m, the downstream water level was 52.32 m, the inflow to the lake was 1,732 m3/s, the total downstream flow was 1,233 m3/s.
The Minister of Agriculture and Environment (MONRE) ordered the Director of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company to continue opening the second bottom spillway of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir at 12:00 on June 29, the third bottom spillway at 6:00 p.m. on June 29 to gradually bring the upstream water level to the elevation of 105.2m.
Previously, at 2:00 p.m. on June 27, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment ordered Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company to open the first bottom spillway to regulate water levels.
To ensure the safety of works and activities along the river, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment requires provinces and cities of Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, and Hanoi to immediately notify authorities at all levels, people, organizations operating on the river, along the river; aquaculture facilities, water transport vehicles, ferry terminals, and vertical boats.
Review and ensure the safety of construction works, gathering and transferring sand and gravel to know information about flood discharge in Tuyen Quang hydroelectric reservoir to proactively take preventive measures to ensure safety of people and property.
In early September 2024, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant had to open all 8 bottom spillways, causing the water level on the Lo River and Gam River to rise. Tuyen Quang City experienced a historic flood after nearly 20 years with a water level of 27.73m. Previously, the historic flood in 1971 was recorded with a water level of 31.37m.
