Recorded on December 3, the locations of road subsidence and negative slope landslides on Km171 + 370 of National Highway 37 through Deo Khe village, Dai Tu district (Thai Nguyen) are under construction of concrete embankments.
Repairs began in mid-November 2024. Currently, one of the two landslide locations has completed the concrete embankment, the remaining location is in the foundation and embankment formwork installation stage.
Previously, this area was considered a traffic black spot, the road surface was already narrow and had subsidence, landslides and deep slope erosion, posing a potential safety risk. Since mid-2024, authorities have placed warning signs.
Mr. Ninh Van Dong, Deo Khe village, said that accidents often happen in this area, with cars sometimes crashing into people's rice and corn fields while trying to avoid each other.
"The subsidence and landslides occurred at the beginning of 2024. We have made many requests, but they have only been repaired recently. Hopefully, this will reduce accidents in the future," said Mr. Dong.
Nearby, Mr. Ninh Van Mai donated part of his family's corn field to the authorities to build embankments and fix landslides on the road surface.
"The villagers hope that the landslides and black spots will be fixed. This road has many trucks, students, and people traveling, so it is very dangerous," Mr. Mai worried.
The landslide area is located on the left side of the route, in the direction of Tuyen Quang - Thai Nguyen, with each location being about 100m long, adjacent to the people's rice fields. The Ministry of Transport and the Road Administration have assigned the Department of Transport to carry out the repair.
Informing reporters, a representative of the Department of Transport Infrastructure Management (Thai Nguyen Department of Transport) said that the repair of subsidence and landslides at Km171 QL.37 is being urgently implemented. It is expected to be completed in December 2024.
"This is a project to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, so construction is allowed to start first, then completion and estimate will be done later," said a representative of the Department of Traffic Infrastructure Management.
