In 2025, Gia Lai province achieved many positive results with 18/21 socio-economic development targets completed and exceeded the plan. Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 7.2% compared to the same period.

Attracting 192 projects, with a total registered capital of more than 160,000 billion VND.

In particular, state budget revenue became a bright spot, reaching over 28,400 billion VND, exceeding 37.8% of the Central Government's estimate and 18.1% of the Provincial People's Council's estimate.
In 2026, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee was assigned 19 socio-economic development targets and tasks. To complete and exceed the plan, the Provincial People's Committee has assigned 11 more targets to departments, agencies, and branches; assigned 21 targets covering socio-economic fields for 135 communes and wards in the area.
Clearly identify bottlenecks
Besides the achieved results, Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary Thai Dai Ngoc frankly pointed out the shortcomings, limitations and problems arising in the process of operating the local government at 2 levels.
According to Mr. Ngoc, industrial and agricultural production is still small-scale, lacking dynamic leading projects; tourism is not diverse, regional and destination linkages are still limited. Infrastructure is not synchronized, many projects are behind schedule; administrative procedures are still cumbersome, coordination is not effective; grassroots management capacity after administrative unit arrangement is still limited...

Starting 2026 is the 14th National Party Congress - a political event of particularly important significance, opening a new era of national development," Mr. Ngoc emphasized.
The Provincial Party Secretary requested the Provincial People's Committee to focus on leading and directing the effective implementation of the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the term 2025-2030 and resolutions and action programs of the Central Government, striving to achieve GRDP growth of 8.8-9.4%.

Strengthen guidance, inspection, and supervision of the implementation of targets and tasks assigned to communes and wards; promote the responsibility of heads, strongly shift from "management" thinking to "development creation", end the situation of avoidance and pushing, and proactively remove difficulties right from the grassroots level.
Focus on reviewing and promptly implementing the strategic resolutions of the Politburo; perfecting institutions, reforming administrative procedures, accelerating planning adjustments to release resources, support businesses and attract investment; drastically removing bottlenecks in site clearance, procedures, and accelerating project progress...

The task set out in 2026 is very heavy, but with the achievements that have been achieved, I believe that the Provincial People's Committee and sectors, levels, and localities will achieve and exceed all set goals and tasks, and join the country in the era of rich and prosperous development," Mr. Ngoc expressed.
Resolutely replace officials who avoid work and harass
According to Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan, the targets assigned to departments, agencies, branches, and localities have been carefully calculated, ensuring feasibility. The GRDP growth target for 2026 is set at over 9%, striving to achieve double-digit growth.
Mr. Tuan assessed that Gia Lai after the merger has enough potential and advantages to ensure double-digit growth in 10 years, with great development potential in the fields of agriculture, industry and services; attractiveness to investors, along with the development aspirations of the people; the determination of provincial leaders.

The Provincial Chairman frankly said that the determination of the provincial leaders, the leaders, is not to maintain positions or titles, but to develop the province.
Mr. Tuan realized that the level of determination at the provincial level is currently higher than in communes and wards. Because in principle, leaders in communes and wards must be the most "passionate" people because they are close to the people, attached to their homeland, and have the desire to bring the land where they were born to develop and become richer and stronger than their superiors. However, reality is happening the opposite.
People are not weak now but are confused in implementation, have not changed their status. This is also an issue that the Provincial Party Secretary has pointed out. If not resolved, this will be the biggest bottleneck currently," Mr. Tuan stated clearly.

From the identified bottlenecks, Mr. Tuan requested departments, agencies, branches and localities to thoroughly grasp the viewpoint of "the head takes on difficult tasks, big tasks, new tasks, directly removes obstacles", focusing on planning and site clearance to accelerate project progress. The entire political system must work in the spirit of "lightning speed", "work done, not overtime", "resolve work thoroughly in the day".
Mr. Tuan also pointed out that there are still officials who do not dare to do it, have not carefully studied documents to implement, avoid, push, wait, rely, lack enthusiasm, and even show signs of harassment. "The province will resolutely replace this group of officials," Mr. Tuan affirmed.
The Chairman of Gia Lai province requested agencies, units, and localities to seriously implement, with the highest determination to excellently complete the tasks.
We will operate in the direction of striving for 10% growth in 2026. To achieve this, the only way is to accelerate progress, previously it was done for 6 months, now it has been reduced to 2 months," Mr. Tuan committed.
