On September 29, the Immigration Department of Gia Lai Provincial Police warned about sophisticated scams related to passport issuance. This trick makes people more susceptible to traps, money appropriation and can expose personal data and information.
The scammers target people who complete passport procedures and register to receive results through the public postal service. They impersonate postmen, asking people to transfer money in advance for a small fee, usually from 10,000 to 35,000 VND, with the reason being to get a passport at home. If they refuse, the victim must go directly to the post office to receive it.
Many people have been vigilant so as not to fall into the trap of this trick, but there are still cases where news leads to money loss. When following the requests of scammers, the victim is also at risk of revealing important personal information.
In the face of this scam, the Immigration Department recommends that people absolutely do not transfer money in advance to any individual or organization without receiving a passport. Only pay the delivery fee to the postman when receiving it directly.
Do not provide personal information such as full name, phone number, address to strangers or brokerage services to submit documents online, to avoid being taken advantage of to commit fraud.
In case it is necessary to verify information related to the passport, people should contact the Immigration Department of Gia Lai Provincial Police directly, address 41 Hai Ba Trung (Quy Nhon Ward). If you detect signs of fraud, you should immediately report it to the nearest police agency for timely support and handling.
