High fares, violating drivers and car companies must publicly apologize
On August 31, Gia Lai Provincial Department of Construction convened a meeting with departments, branches, business leaders, and cooperatives engaged in passenger transportation by taxi and contract vehicles in the area.
The Director of the Provincial Department of Construction severely criticized the Director of ASIA Quy Nhon Transport Cooperative and the violating driver. At the same time, requesting transport enterprises to mobilize vehicles and drivers to meet the travel needs of the people.
Resolutely prevent the situation of squeezing, competing for customers or refusing transportation against regulations; declare and list prices in accordance with regulations. The Provincial Department of Construction strictly prohibits taking advantage of increased travel demand during holidays to arbitrarily increase prices, collect additional fees outside the listed price or agreement.
Previously, on the evening of August 30, a tourist reflected that he was charged a high price by a driver of ASIA Quy Nhon Cooperative. Passengers took a taxi for a distance of only about 2 km, from Xuan Dieu beach to the hotel but were charged 75,000 VND.
Upon receiving the feedback, the Provincial Department of Construction quickly convened a meeting to handle it. Driver Le Ngoc Hung and the Director of the Cooperative admitted that the actual fare collection was higher than the fare charged through the application. The driver and Director of the Cooperative publicly apologized to passengers for violating regulations.

The province assigned the Department of Construction to resolutely eliminate old, dilapidated and seriously degraded vehicles; tighten management of passenger transport business activities; resolutely revoke transport business licenses for businesses and households engaged in transport business that violate business conditions according to regulations.
At the same time, the province also requests to effectively exploit the existing smart transportation system, study expanding the network of surveillance cameras at intersections and key routes; strengthen violation handling through images to enhance deterrence and education.
