On August 5, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Development of Gia Lai province - chaired the first meeting of the Steering Committee to discuss solutions to implement key tasks.
Immediately after the Politburo issued Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on December 22, 2024, the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee identified developing science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as one of the key, strategic and long-term political tasks, creating an important foundation for breakthroughs in the province's socio-economic development.
The province's highlight is the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) in Quy Nhon Nam ward, which has organized nearly 200 high-quality international scientific events and more than 45 specialized schools, attracting more than 12,000 scientists from 40 countries and territories, including 18 Nobel Prize-winning professors.
Gia Lai is also one of the leading localities in implementing new fields and models in science and technology such as: Establishing a Center for Scientific Discoveries and Innovation; proposing the development of a scientific urban area with the Project "Developing Quy Hoa Science Urban Area to 2025, with a vision to 2035".
In the field of information technology, Gia Lai has attracted large enterprises such as FPT Corporation and TMA Solutions to invest in Quang Trung - Binh Dinh Software Park, creating jobs for more than 1,200 employees.
Directing at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung emphasized that the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation is one of the breakthroughs of the 2025-2030 term.
To support the grassroots, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee has agreed to allocate 250 billion VND to 135 communes and wards to invest, purchase equipment, and complete information technology infrastructure. The Department of Science and Technology is responsible for guiding and supervising the implementation process.
In particular, focus on implementing 4 projects: Developing the semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence and network safety - security in the province in the period of 2025 - 2030; Developing human resources in the semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence, network safety and security in the period of 2025 - 2030; Developing STEM education for high school students in the province; Building a concentrated IT Park.
