Kon Tum is ready for the Quang Ngai connecting expressway project
The Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee said that the provincial Department of Construction is actively preparing for the Kon Tum - Quang Ngai expressway project, with a total preliminary investment of about 44,355 billion VND.
Kon Tum province has directed districts to complete the planning of construction material mines to grant mineral exploitation rights, and at the same time prepare plans for site clearance for construction.
Currently, the distance from Kon Tum city to Quang Ngai city is about 200km. In addition to National Highway 24, Provincial Road 676 is also being upgraded to connect mountainous districts of the two provinces. However, due to steep terrain and narrow roads, travel time between the two localities usually takes more than 4 hours.
The new expressway project is expected to shorten travel time, facilitating the transportation of goods and passengers between the two provinces.
According to the proposed plan, the highway is 144km long, an increase of about 8km compared to the original plan due to the complicated terrain in Violak and Mang Den pass areas. The route has a starting point at Km0+000, connected to the North -South Expressway in the East (in Duc Pho district, Quang Ngai) and the end of the North -South Expressway (in Kon Tum City).
The project capital will be allocated from the central budget for construction and installation and other costs. Meanwhile, the locality is responsible for allocating funds for site clearance. According to the plan of the Ministry of Construction, the project is expected to start construction in December 2026 and be completed in December 2029.
Gia Lai prepares materials and capital for expressway project
Mr. Luu Trung Nghia - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province - said that the department has reviewed localities with the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway passing through, including Mang Yang, Dak Doa, Dak Po and An Khe, to integrate into the planning and land use plan.
Currently, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province has allocated a target of 1,800 hectares of land for mineral exploitation to fill the localities. In parallel, the Department of Agriculture and Environment surveyed 60 fill mines, with a total reserve of about 4 million cubic meters and 38 construction stone mines with a reserve of about 3 million cubic meters.
This material source not only serves the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway but also meets the needs of key projects in the province. The Department of Agriculture and Environment has also worked with Project Management Board 2 and basically met the requirements for mineral materials for construction.
Regarding the project, it is expected that in the coming time, the Prime Minister will submit to the National Assembly for consideration and approval of the pre -feasibility study report of Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway Construction Project. This is a large -scale project, a lot of work volume, assigned by the Government to Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces to coordinate the implementation of compensation and site clearance.
In order to ensure implementation capital, the People's Council of Gia Lai province, term XII, issued Resolution No. 492/QD-HDND, agreeing to allocate 500 billion VND from the provincial budget to participate in investment. This capital will be drawn from increased budget revenue in 2024, regular expenditure savings and balanced capital in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026 - 2030.
People and businesses in Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces expect the project to start construction soon, aiming to connect with deep-water ports, expanding opportunities to bring goods and agricultural products to international markets.
