On August 4, the Department of Transport of Gia Lai province just sent a document to the Ministry of Transport regarding the review and update of the proposed investment plan for the construction of the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway.
This unit proposed that the Ministry of Transport consider reporting to the Prime Minister for approval to invest in the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway under the public investment form.
The project starts at the intersection with National Highway 19B (Km39+200, located in Nhon My commune, An Nhon town, Binh Dinh province), and ends at the intersection with Ho Chi Minh road (located in Pleiku city, Gia Lai province) with a total length of 122.9 km.
According to the proposal, the Ministry of Transport will act as the managing agency for the project, and the People's Committee of each province will carry out the land clearance work according to administrative boundaries.
The Department of Transport of Gia Lai province proposed implementing a 4-lane road planning scale, with a total estimated investment of about 37,621 billion VND.
Previously, the People's Committee of Kon Tum province also proposed that the Ministry of Transport soon allocate funds to implement the investment project for the Western North-South expressway to connect the Central Highlands provinces, thereby helping the locality to grow economically and improve transportation capacity.
In the Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the Western North-South expressway through Kon Tum province includes the Ngoc Hoi – Pleiku section, which is 90km long, with a 6-lane road scale, and the investment process before 2030.
The Ministry of Transport affirmed that in cases where localities have investment needs and can mobilize resources, they will report to the Prime Minister for approval for early investment.
