To date, the progress of implementing 16 projects and plans for arranging and stabilizing people in disaster-prone areas in Gia Lai province has improved, but is still slow and has not met the province's requirements.
As of the end of June 2026, the whole province has only approved compensation, support, and site clearance plans for 161/980 households, reaching 16.43%. The number of households that have drawn lots and allocated resettlement land (TĐC) reached 245/980 households; and only 31/980 households have completed relocation to new residences.
Many projects are still behind schedule in most stages. In Phu My Dong resettlement area, My Thang area still has about 3ha of new residential land that has not been handed over, infrastructure construction progress has only reached 21%; My An area has only counted 38/57 households in the old residence and has not approved compensation plans.
An Quang Dong plan (De Gi commune) is slow to approve the compensation plan, land allocation and relocation of people. Trung Luong resettlement area (Cat Tien commune) has not completed inventory, has not approved the old housing compensation plan. Tra Cong village resettlement area (An Hoa commune) phases 1 and 2 are also slow to construct infrastructure, slow to inventory and have not completed the old housing compensation plan.
Ia Hiao, Uar and Ia Dreh projects are still slow in the stages of inventorying, preparing compensation plans, land allocation, housing construction and population relocation.
Infrastructure in some resettlement areas does not meet the requirements, does not ensure conditions for land allocation and housing construction for people, especially items such as leveling, electricity supply, water supply, landmark planting, and land subdivision.
Faced with the above situation, the Provincial People's Committee criticized the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board and the People's Committees of An Hoa, Phu My Dong, Cat Tien, De Gi, Ia Hiao communes and related units for allowing slow implementation progress.
Standing Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh requested the heads of agencies, units, and localities to improve their responsibility, urgently rectify and immediately overcome existing shortcomings and limitations.
According to Mr. Thanh, the time from now until the end of the year is not much, while the workload is very large. The central budget capital support for 2026 has been allocated on a large scale and must be disbursed before December 31, 2026.
If not implemented drastically, the risk of slow disbursement, recovery, cancellation of estimates or loss of capital is very high. Direct responsibility, mainly belonging to localities, especially the heads.
The Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and wards are fully responsible to the Provincial People's Committee and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee if they delay tasks under their authority. In case of recovery, cancellation of estimates or loss of capital, they must be reviewed and handled for responsibility according to regulations," Mr. Thanh requested.
According to the emergency population arrangement and stabilization plan for disaster-stricken areas, Gia Lai province is implementing emergency relocation in 16 areas, including 13 concentrated projects and 3 interspersed plans, with 1,858 households to be relocated. The total estimated cost is more than 2,108 billion VND.
In which, the eastern area of the province has 9 areas, including 7 concentrated projects and 2 interspersed options, with 905 households, total estimated cost of more than 1,233 billion VND. The western area has 7 areas, including 6 concentrated projects and 1 interspersed option, with 953 households, total estimated cost of more than 875 billion VND.
