On April 25, the Gia Lai Provincial Traffic Safety Board said that in the first quarter of 2026, the whole province recorded 181 traffic accidents (TNGT), killing 131 people and injuring 81 people.
Compared to the same period in 2025, the number of cases decreased by 20 cases, a decrease of 1 death and a decrease of 68 injuries.
Recently, traffic accidents in the province have shown signs of complicated developments, continuously occurring cases with deaths. From April 15 to 21, the whole province recorded 7 cases, causing 6 deaths and 3 injuries.
According to the Gia Lai Provincial Traffic Safety Board, traffic accidents mainly occurred on roads, killing 130 people; 1 railway accident killed 1 person.
Some localities recorded high cases such as Tuy Phuoc commune 7 cases, Chu Se commune 6 cases, Bien Ho commune 5 cases; Thong Nhat ward, De Gi commune, Ia Hrung commune, Bau Can commune, Dak Doa commune, Mang Yang commune each locality 4 cases.
Most accidents are related to motorbikes. The main causes are not paying attention to observation, driving in the wrong lane, and going against traffic.
During the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday and April 30 - May 1, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee directed to strengthen solutions to ensure traffic order and safety on both roads, railways and waterways, in order to curb and reduce accidents.
Leaders of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Police to direct forces to strengthen patrols, inspections, and strictly handle violations, especially direct causes of accidents; detect and prevent illegal racing, gatherings causing public disorder.
At the same time, there is a plan to divert and regulate traffic to ensure people's safe travel during the holidays.
