After the merger, the land border area west of Gia Lai province has 7 communes, including Ia Puc, Ia Mo, Ia O, Ia Chia, Ia Pon, Ia Nan and Ia Dom, with 21 primary and secondary schools. However, most schools do not have boarding and semi-boarding facilities; facilities are still lacking, and teacher rooms are degraded. Out of a total of 9,482 students, up to 54.65% are children of ethnic minorities.
Implementing the policy of investing in building inter-level boarding primary and secondary schools in 248 land border communes across the country, Gia Lai province has implemented the project to invest in building inter-level boarding schools in 7 border communes of the province.

The project demonstrates the Party and State's concern for ethnic minorities and border areas and is identified as one of the key projects of Gia Lai province.
With a total investment of more than 1,516 billion VND, the project has a scale of 212 classrooms with about 7,420 students; started on November 16, 2025, expected to be inaugurated at the end of August 2026 and put into use from the 2026-2027 school year.
After more than 2 months of implementation, investment preparation and contractor selection have basically been completed; bomb and mine clearance work has been completed. In 2025, the allocated budget for the project is 397 billion VND and disbursement has reached 100%.

However, the progress of implementing some stages and items of work has not been ensured according to the plan. The coordination between agencies, units, and localities; between contractors is not highly effective, and has not proactively removed difficulties and obstacles. Reporting work is not timely and complete, and there is still a mentality of waiting and relying on superiors.
To ensure the project progress, the Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Investment Project Management Board, departments, branches, localities and contractors to make efforts, identify this as a political responsibility to the Party, State and People; focus on implementing the project to ensure progress, quality and safety, striving to complete it before August 31, 2026.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Investment Project Management Board to prioritize arranging personnel, focusing on project implementation with the spirit of "Quang Trung Than Hoc"; changing working thinking, not avoiding or shirking responsibility; proactively coordinating with relevant agencies and localities to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles.
Strictly control the progress and quality of the project; coordinate the implementation between the design and construction units in accordance with the "designing and constructing" method, absolutely not allowing the situation of "waiting for enough to do" to affect the overall progress.
Directing contractors to develop detailed progress plans for each project item and sign emulation commitments to implement the project; focus manpower, machinery, equipment, maximize favorable weather time for construction, and immediately start work after the Tet holiday, without interruption.
This is a large-scale project, implemented in a special form. The province requests the Department of Construction to coordinate, support, and provide specific guidance to investors to fully implement investment and construction procedures according to regulations; ensure technical requirements, quality and efficiency of works, and promptly resolve arising difficulties and obstacles.
