Suffering because of unfinished construction
Over the past time, Vinh Long provincial leaders have continuously directed the removal of obstacles in site clearance, and organized many meetings to urge progress. However, many traffic and irrigation projects in the area are still being constructed sparingly, greatly affecting people's lives.
Recorded in Thanh Duc ward, many rural traffic routes combined with dykes were started many years ago but have not been completed yet. Many road sections have been dug up, soil piled up, causing many difficulties for people's travel.
Notably, the road through Son Dong hamlet and Cai Son Lon area, although the land acquisition notice and asset inventory have been completed for many years, the construction progress is still slow. The old road surface is degraded, the new road surface has not yet formed, causing traffic unsafety and affecting people's lives.

According to the reflection of Ms. Tran Thi Hoa, a resident of Son Dong hamlet, the construction unit once brought machinery to pile soil in front of the house and then withdrew it for many months. Large piles of soil block the entrance and exit, causing many obstacles to travel, transport goods and daily life.
In the sunny season, the road is dusty, and in the rainy season it becomes muddy and slippery. Worried that if an emergency occurs, ambulances will be difficult to access due to the degraded road surface and embankment blocking the way," Ms. Hoa added.
A similar situation also occurred at the new construction project of My Thanh bridge, Luong Phu commune. According to the Provincial Traffic Project Management Board, the project has a total investment of 175 billion VND, implemented in the period 2025-2028. 70 billion VND was allocated in 2026, and so far more than 29.25 billion VND has been disbursed, reaching 42% of the plan.
The project recovered more than 20,476m2 of land from 52 households, but site clearance work is still facing difficulties due to land price differences and policies to support crops.
Local authorities urge, province requests definitive handling
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen The Anh - Vice Chairman of Thanh Duc Ward People's Committee - said that the locality is very sympathetic to the difficulties of the people and hopes that the projects will be completed soon to serve travel needs.
According to Mr. Nguyen The Anh, many projects are currently being received by the locality from the time they were still under Long Ho district before the merger. The process of handing over dossiers, determining boundaries and handling problems related to land origin has created many difficulties, causing site clearance work not to achieve the expected progress.
The locality is regularly working with the construction unit, requesting to focus manpower and machinery according to the motto "construction where there is land", in order to reduce the impact on people's lives," Mr. The Anh added.

According to the Vinh Long Provincial Civil and Industrial Project Management Board, in 2026, the province will be allocated capital to implement 163 projects, including 40 provincial-level projects and 123 projects decentralized to regional management boards, with a total planned capital of 5,772 billion VND. By the end of May 2026, the disbursed value reached about 917 billion VND, equivalent to 15.9% of the plan.
Mr. Tran Tri Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee, requested departments, branches and localities to review the reasons for delays, clarify the responsibilities of each unit and individual to accelerate the implementation of projects.
The Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee emphasized the need to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to agree to hand over land; fully implement compensation, support, and resettlement policies according to regulations, ensuring people's rights, and not allowing the project to be prolonged.
