On July 16, according to the Dong Nai City Land Fund Development Center, the drainage project outside Long Thanh airport (phase 1) started the compensation and site clearance work in July 2026 and will be completed in December 2026.
The drainage project outside Long Thanh airport includes 2 component projects: The drainage project in the area outside Long Thanh airport (phase 1), invested by Area 5 Project Management Board, with a total investment of more than 836 billion VND, and the compensation, support, and resettlement project for investment and construction of drainage in the area outside Long Thanh airport (phase 1), invested by the City Land Fund Development Center - Long Thanh branch, with a total investment of more than 436 billion VND.
According to Dong Nai City People's Committee, the drainage project in the area outside Long Thanh airport will be started in October 2026. The total length of the Long Thanh airport drainage line (phase 1) is about 19km, including 2 drainage lines: Bung Mon stream about 12km long and Da Vang stream about 7km long. Regarding the scale of implementation, the project will construct dredging and reinforcing embankments, service roads, sidewalks, and green trees.
In which, Bung Mon stream is the main drainage route for regulating lakes No. 2 and No. 3; Da Vang stream is the drainage route for regulating lakes No. 4 and No. 5 of Long Thanh airport.
According to the Project Management Board of Area 5, the overall drainage plan, rainfall in the Long Thanh airport project area will be discharged into the existing surrounding drainage system (sweets, canals or rivers). Meanwhile, the area along the Long Thanh airport and on the main drainage routes in the area often experiences flooding in the rainy season, because the existing drainage works have smaller capacity than reality or are silted up and do not meet the designed operating capacity.
The drainage project in the area outside Long Thanh airport (phase 1) is being implemented, so it is very necessary, making an important contribution to the efficiency of the Long Thanh airport project. At the same time, the project contributes to strengthening the drainage capacity for the basin area of about 3,836 ha, including the Bung Mon stream basin area of about 2,698 ha and the Da Vang stream basin area of about 1,138 ha in the area along Long Thanh airport, Long Thanh ward and Long Phuoc commune.
