According to information recently appeared on social networking platforms, a monk with the Dharma name Thich Nhuan Dat had a romantic relationship with a person named Tym.
The case related to the person called teacher/teacher Thich Nhuan Dat and a woman named Tym is becoming a hot topic on social networks in recent days. A series of livestreams, posts and videos spreading on Facebook and TikTok have made the story attract great attention from the online community.
However, most of the information still originates from related parties on social networks and there is no official conclusion from functional agencies or religious organizations.
According to the content being spread, the person mentioned as Thich Nhuan Dat is introduced as a "master" or "martyr" who participates in sharing about Buddhism, living in a monastic community. Meanwhile, Tym is said to be a businesswoman and has participated in activities related to this monastic group.
The two are said to have financial disputes as well as issues related to private life. Videos and posts with accusatory content quickly spread, attracting hundreds of thousands of views and comments. Many social media users shared clips, audio recordings or images that are said to be evidence of the allegations of the parties. However, the authenticity of these documents has not been verified.
Venerable Thich Nguyen Chinh - Member of the Secretariat of the Executive Council, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (GHPGVN) - shared with the media agency of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions: "I have just grasped the information that Mr. Thich Nhuan Dat used to become a monk but has asked for re-enshrinement a few years ago". This means that if the information is accurate, this person is no longer a monk of the Sangha.
Venerable Thich Minh Nhan - Deputy Chief of Office 2 of the Central GHPGVN: "We also just read information online. I heard that Mr. Thich Nhuan Dat is currently in India and it is also unclear which pagoda Mr. Thich Nhuan Dat used to practice in. We are requesting the local authorities to verify".
