Creating resistance from trust
Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee Duong Duc Huy shared that when each citizen becomes a "cultural milestone", each family is a "fortune" preserving good values, the ideological "battlefield" will be sustainably protected from daily life.
In the border region with 34 brotherly ethnic groups living together, Lao Cai today is entering a new stage of development with a larger space, and an increasingly faster and wider level of integration. Along with the opportunities are many challenges posed to ideological work, especially when cyberspace becomes a place where information spreads every minute, every second.
According to Mr. Duong Duc Huy, if in the past propaganda work was mainly propaganda, now it has shifted strongly to proactively orienting, dialogue and spreading positive values.
Maintaining the ideological battlefield is not only about fighting against bad and toxic information, but more importantly, creating resistance from belief, from culture and good values in life" - Mr. Huy said.
From that point of view, the propaganda and training sector determines that economic development must always go hand in hand with cultural development. The deeper the integration, the more it must preserve identity. The cultural treasure of ethnic groups in the area is not only a heritage to be preserved but also a resource for developing tourism, creative economy and building the local image.
That also changes the way propaganda work is done. Not only "talking to the people to understand", propaganda cadres must "explain to make people believe, dialogue to make people understand and mobilize people to follow", so that people truly become the subjects of preserving and spreading the cultural values of the community.
Each official is a "credible information hotspot
In the context of fake information and false information appearing more and more on social networks, Mr. Duong Duc Huy believes that the most important thing is not only to refute but to build an "information immune system" for the whole society. Accordingly, the propaganda and training sector focuses on firmly grasping the ideological situation and public opinion, early identifying sensitive issues to respond quickly, providing accurate, timely, and verified information to officials, party members and people.
To do that, Lao Cai is promoting the models "Digital Villagers", "Community Digital Technology Groups", "Digital Villages", "Smart Villages", while improving digital skills for officials, union members, youth and people at the grassroots level.
The goal is for each cadre and party member to become a "credible information hotspot", contributing to covering the cyberspace with official, positive and timely information.
In parallel with that, propaganda methods are also changing towards being closer to the people. From long conferences, dry content, propaganda work is shifting to short, visual, easy-to-remember, easy-to-share forms and strengthening the application of digital technology.
For the team of reporters and propagandists, the requirement is not only to "speak correctly" but also to "speak well, speak understandably and speak at the right time". Besides standardizing knowledge, digital communication skills and handling situations, Lao Cai continues to promote the role of the grassroots propaganda system, prestigious people, village elders, village chiefs, artisans, teachers, youth union officials... as "bridges" between the Party's policies and people's lives.
Mr. Duong Duc Huy emphasized: "Each citizen is a cultural subject; each social network user needs to be responsible; each young person is an ambassador of Lao Cai".
