People in the border area have long been like a house
On the morning of June 30, two signs pointing to the border of Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces at Km717 National Highway 1A - the section bordering Vinh Cap commune (Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province) and Sen Thuy commune (Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province) were dismantled. This image closes a milestone that has existed for decades, opening a new page when the two provinces officially joined the same roof.
Before the two signs indicating the boundary were removed, many people and visitors crossing the street stopped to take souvenir photos. Ms. Tran Thi Tu (residing in Vinh Chap commune) expressed that her family has settled in this area for a long time and has witnessed many changes. When I learned that the two provinces would merge, I was happy and hoped that in the future, administrative procedures would be less cumbersome, making people travel and trade more convenient, said Ms. Tu.
Sharing the same feelings, Mr. Le Van Ha (sen Thuy commune) said that for a long time, people on both sides of the border have been close, sharing difficulties, and having many similarities in culture and lifestyle. "Now that we have become a province, it is easier for us to join hands to develop the socio-economy and take care of people's lives" - Mr. Ha believes.
According to Mr. Vo Van Tuan - Chairman of Vinh Chap Commune People's Committee, the border area of Vinh Chap - Sen Thuy has long maintained a solidarity bond, regularly exchanging sports and arts. Tan Dinh village (Vinh Chap commune) and Tram Ky village (sen Thuy commune) are still confusing, coordinating to maintain security and order. "Every year, the two sides organize exchanges and visits 1-2 times, so the merger with us is a hope of solidarity and development" - Mr. Tuan shared.
Quang Tri will develop thanks to endogenous strength, aspiration to rise
On the same morning, a ceremony was held to announce the resolutions and decisions of the Central and the province on the arrangement of provincial and commune-level administrative units; end the operation of district-level administrative units; establish a party organization, appoint Party committees, People's Councils, People's Committees, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of provinces and communes, wards, and special zones of the new Quang Tri province. Accordingly, Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces will merge, taking the name of Quang Tri province (new), the administrative center is located in the current Dong Hoi city. The new province has an area of nearly 12,700 km2, with a population of about 1.85 million people.
Mr. Le Ngoc Quang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee appointed to hold the position of Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee (new) emphasized that the new Quang Tri province has a new stature and fortune, crystallizing the two lands that shared the fire in the war, accompanied in reconstruction and now share the aspiration to create a future.
Mr. Le Ngoc Quang affirmed that Quang Tri has all the conditions to become a center for the development of energy, tourism, logistics and clean industry in the Central region. At the same time, he called on cadres, party members, people in the province and people of the homeland living all over the region to promote the tradition of resilience, heroic spirit, and together spread the aspiration for development.
Lets together open a new stage of development - more dynamic, more courageous, more effective so that Quang Tri becomes a land of convergence of intelligence, spreading values, connecting the future Mr. Quang suggested.
In his speech, Central Party Committee member and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha believed in the endogenous strength and aspiration to rise up to make Quang Tri a strong, dynamic developing locality worthy of the golden opportunity brought by the merger and the new government model. In the coming time, the Government requires Quang Tri to firmly strengthen consensus and solidarity within the Party Committee, government and people; arouse the revolutionary heroic tradition and determination to innovate to turn potential and advantages into development momentum.
