With a total investment of about 5,000 billion VND, 7 key flood control projects of Hanoi City are entering the final completion phase, ready to be put into operation before this year's rainy season.

Recorded at the construction sites, the investor and construction units are focusing on accelerating progress, completing the final parts such as returning the ground, handing over the regulating lake system and canal routes to the management and operation unit.

Typically, at the Thuy Phuong canal renovation project, the construction atmosphere is urgent. This is a large-scale project with a total length of 7.6km, including more than 3.5km of open canals and nearly 4km of underground culverts along key roads such as Hoang Minh Thao, Vo Chi Cong to To Lich river.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - a worker at Construction Service and Trading Joint Stock Company 68, the connection of underground culverts has been completed. The unit is focusing on scraping, filling the foundation and compacting the road surface. If the weather is favorable, by the end of this week, the barriers will be removed to restore the ground, serving the travel needs of people.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Deputy Director of Dai An Construction Investment Company, this is a large-scale project but the construction time is very rushed, only lasting about 4 months. To ensure progress, the unit has arranged reasonable shifts and working groups, and at the same time closely coordinated with relevant parties to unify a safe construction plan, ensuring quality and aesthetics of the project.
After more than 4 months of implementation, the project is basically completed before June 30 and is expected to start replenishing water for the To Lich River from July 15.

Representatives of the Hanoi Technical and Agricultural Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the implementation process of 7 projects encountered many difficulties due to the complex construction nature, the investor and consulting units have both implemented and learned from experience to ensure that the projects reach the finish line on schedule before the rainy season.
The synchronous completion of regulating lakes and key canals is expected to form a more efficient drainage system. This not only helps significantly reduce pressure on the existing drainage system that is already overloaded, but also contributes to shortening the flooding time at "black spots" every time heavy rain occurs.
According to experts' assessment, the allocation of about 5,000 billion VND to invest in flood prevention infrastructure shows Hanoi's determination to improve the living environment and improve the quality of urban infrastructure. If the spirit of drastic construction continues, key projects of Hanoi City will be implemented quickly and more effectively in the coming time.
When put into stable operation, the projects not only help people reduce their worries about flooding after rain but also contribute to removing one of the major bottlenecks in urban infrastructure that the Capital aims to solve before 2030.
