The Hanoi Department of Construction has just issued a document reporting to the Ministry of Construction on the results of reviewing and handling shortcomings and inadequacies in road traffic organization in the area and the plan to review and develop a list of traffic light sources that need to be repaired and upgraded in 2025.
According to the Hanoi Department of Construction, this agency was assigned by the Hanoi People's Committee to manage two main expressways and some sections of the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway, with a total length of 107.5 km.
In addition, the Department also manages 11 national highways with a total length of 241.8 km; 86 tunnels of all kinds ( motor underpasses, underpasses for people, pedestrian tunnels) with a total length of 3.9 km; 1,385 routes (including provincial roads, district roads, urban roads) with a total length of 2,044.8 km; 376 bridges with a total length of 40.54 km.
The Department of Construction has directed its affiliated units and contractors to manage and maintain the traffic light system to strengthen inspection and promptly fix incidents and damages during exploitation and use.
At the same time, coordinate with Hanoi City Police to receive information about incidents related to traffic lights, adjust the light cycle time in accordance with the density and traffic volume to minimize traffic congestion.
The Department has maintained the traffic light system, including: Three-color control button; Golden light switch; Pedestrian light switch; Wireless mobile light switch.
In addition, relevant units have also promptly adjusted the light phase at inadequate traffic organization locations, repaired damaged traffic lights at the intersections assigned for management, and replaced and added more than 1,400 signs of all kinds.
In 2025, the Department will continue to review and develop a list of traffic light Butts that need to be repaired and upgraded. It is expected that 505 new rear-wheel lights will be replaced. Units are also directed to strengthen inspection, promptly repair and handle damaged road signs, and at the same time propose adjustments at inadequate locations, ensuring reasonable, scientific, easy-to-recognize and consistent with traffic organization plans.
Road maintenance contractors and traffic lights are also required to proactively trim trees to ensure visibility for vehicles participating in traffic. At some locations with large trees and large branches covering signs and traffic lights, the Hanoi Department of Construction has directed units to survey and propose solutions to ensure the system of signs and traffic lights is most effective in the city.
