On the morning of July 22, Mr. Co Nhu Dung, Chairman of Giang Vo Ward People's Committee, said that the ward had completed the propaganda work to mobilize people to evacuate from G6A Thanh Cong apartment building to avoid storm Wipha.
The functional forces of Giang Vo ward have actively participated in the mobilization and received consensus from the people, so at 9:00 p.m. on July 21, the household finally moved the dangerous apartment to a temporary residence arranged by the government.
The leader of Giang Vo Ward People's Committee said that a total of 18 people are living in 8 apartments, of which two are over 75 years old and two are under 14 years old.
According to Mr. Co Nhu Dung, during the time of temporary evacuation to avoid the storm, the government will organize support, ensure essential needs for the people, and at the same time arrange militia to be on duty to ensure security, order, and property safety for residents in the old apartment building.
To respond to storm Wipha, on the evening of July 21, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh issued a telegram to urgently deploy emergency response to this storm.
The dispatch requires the chairmen of the People's Committees of wards and communes to proactively review residential areas, organize evacuation of people from unsafe weak houses, areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, and deep flooding.
Since 2016, the inspection agency has announced blocks 1 and 2 of level D danger that require evacuation to demolish and rebuild. However, dozens of G6A households still stayed even though the outside of the apartment building was surrounded by corrugated iron.
In September 2024, when Typhoon Yagi made landfall, the old Ba Dinh district evacuated households from the dangerous apartment building. Among them, there are households in 3 level D dangerous apartment buildings: G6A Thanh Cong, nguyen 3 - C8 Giang Vo, nguyen 1 - A Ngoc Khanh.
