In recent days, due to complicated weather developments, natural disaster prevention, control and safety assurance at the construction site of the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project has become more urgent than ever.
At the location of VT140 pole in Lam Thuong commune, Lao Cai province, Mr. Le Van Du, the project's engineer, said: "The pole is located on the top of the hill, from the foot of the hill to the location of the pole, nearly 2km long. We divide shifts, stay from early morning to late night, trying to complete before the storm hits."

According to Mr. Du, this is one of the most difficult locations of the project. The nearly 2km road from the foot of the hill to the top after the heavy rain the previous day made it impossible for vehicles to travel.
Workers and engineers have to walk, carrying every meter of cable and iron bar to the top of the hill so that the work is not interrupted.

Mr. Van Minh Tam (construction unit) also shared: The work here is extremely difficult because of the complex terrain, dense hills, and large slopes.
Opening the road to the construction site also takes a lot of time and effort. Long, heavy steel pipes cannot be transported in whole, forcing them to be divided into many sections for easy transportation.
Mr. Tam confided that every time he hears a rain forecast, everyone is anxious and restless.
"Just one day's rain will result in a 2-3 day of stopping construction because the road is muddy and unsafe. Completing the project on schedule is not only a race against time, but also a fierce battle with harsh weather, he said.

On July 22, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Do Quang Khai, Deputy Director of the Power 1 Project Management Board, Director of the Project Management Board, said: Up to now, 461/468 foundation holes of the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project have been completed. To respond to weather developments and proactively prevent and combat natural disasters, 100% of management board staff and contractors are mobilized and on duty at the construction site according to the "4 on-site" motto.
According to Mr. Do Quang Khai, in the context of the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project being constructed on rugged mountainous terrain, ensuring absolute safety for people and equipment is especially important. The Project Management Board has directed contractors to fully grasp the proactive spirit of the workers and construction forces, absolutely not being subjective in the face of storm No. 3.

At the same time, the contractor must arrange a full camp, warehouse and shelter for workers in safe and convenient locations. All construction equipment, machines such as excavators and bulldozers are also transferred from the high hill. Materials and equipment at the warehouse are carefully concealed and have a plan to relocate out of the area at risk of slipping and flash floods.
"Currently, taking advantage of favorable weather, we are focusing all resources on construction. Contractors also increased human resources, vehicles, and gathered columns, materials, and equipment to the foundation to compensate if affected by the storm, said Mr. Khai, emphasizing that the entire construction site is determined to maintain the construction atmosphere, ensuring both safety and progress.
