To proactively respond to the 2026 rainy season, Hanoi has issued 10 emergency orders to improve water transmission and regulation capacity in key urban areas. At the same time, Hanoi City is developing a scenario to be on duty with 100% of personnel in case of extreme heavy rain over 100mm, ensuring safety for people.
Entering the 2026 rainy season, the capital's drainage system recorded many positive changes thanks to the drastic direction of the City Party Committee and Hanoi People's Committee. The new point this year is the early issuance of drainage plans and emergency orders to handle infrastructure "bottlenecks".

According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Toan - Deputy General Director of Hanoi Drainage Co., Ltd., 10 emergency orders were focused on being implemented by Hanoi City to improve water transmission and regulation capacity in some key urban areas.
Also according to Mr. Toan, the unit has developed many specific response scenarios. With rainfall below 50mm, the system ensures that no flooding occurs. When the rainfall is from 70-100mm, it is expected that there will be about 71 flooding points. In case of rain exceeding 100mm, the entire force will be on duty with 100% of the force, coordinating with the Traffic Police force to ensure safety for people.

At the same time, Mr. Hoang Chien Thang - Director of Yen So Key Construction Cluster Management Enterprise said that the maintenance of the units after more than 20 years of operation has been completed. Specialized units such as Ebara and Hai Duong Pump have carried out major repairs, ensuring the pump system operates stably during the rainy season.
“We organize 24/7 duty according to a 3-shift, 4-shift regime. The water level at the canals and regulating lakes is always maintained according to the control threshold of the Hanoi Department of Construction. At the same time, the operating plan for Thanh Liet dam to support drainage for the Nhue River basin is also ready when requested,” Mr. Thang said.
According to functional units, close coordination between key pumping stations and local management forces is expected to help speed up drainage and reduce flooding time in many areas of the Capital.

In parallel with that, technical inspection and maintenance of the regulating gate system, channels and regulating lakes are also being implemented synchronously according to the regulations of the Hanoi Department of Construction.
In addition to operating at maximum capacity of Yen So Pumping Station, the units also coordinate with river and canal management forces to inspect and regulate flow, ensuring that the entire drainage system operates smoothly during this rainy season.
