Hanoi was awarded in the field of "smart public services" at the 2025 Vietnam Smart City Award organized by the Vietnam Information Technology and Software and Services Association (VINASA).
The award ceremony took place within the framework of the Vietnam - Asia Smart City Conference, on December 23. This year, the organizing committee awarded 18 prizes from 75 nominations, including 8 prizes for urban areas and 10 prizes for technology solutions.
The capital Hanoi is recognized in the category of "Smartly operated and managed city" in the field of public services. The implementation of the AI Center, virtual assistant to serve people 24/24 hours and the iHanoi digital citizen application are assessed to have contributed to removing "bottlenecks" in communication between the government and people in large cities, improving transparency and service efficiency.
In the group of excellent awards, Da Nang was honored in 3 categories: smart governance and operation; green environment - sustainable development; innovative startup attractive city. This is the 6th consecutive year that Da Nang has received the Award for Outstanding Smart City of Vietnam.
In addition, localities such as Hue, Tay Ninh and many other provinces and cities are also recognized for their persistent construction of digital governance platforms, taking people as the center of service.
The Vietnam Smart City Award was initiated by VINASA in 2020. The highlight of 2025 is the content of the vote "livable city" with 7 criteria including: governance, transportation, environment, infrastructure, startups, security and digital economy. The Organizing Committee recorded more than 200,000 votes from people across the country.
Da Nang leads with 163,984 votes, accounting for nearly 70% of the total number of votes; followed by Quang Ninh and Hue. The top 5 localities with the highest voting scores include: Da Nang, Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Hue and Nghe An.
According to the organizers, the large participation of the people shows increasing concern for the quality of life in urban areas, affirming that technology is just a tool, and the ultimate goal is the happiness of the people.
