On May 19, the Tu Lien bridge project and the road at both ends of the bridge were officially started after nearly half a year of Hanoi City urgently implementing investment procedures.
The project is about 5.15km long, starting at Nghi Tam Street (Tay Ho District), ending at Truong Sa Street (Dong Anh District).
The Tu Lien Bridge and Road project at both ends of the bridge has been approved, including 4 component projects, including 3 component projects for site clearance and 1 investment project to build Tu Lien Bridge and access roads.
Component projects for site clearance in 3 districts: Tay Ho, Long Bien, Dong Anh (in 7 wards: Quang An, Yen Phu, Tu Lien, Ngoc Thuy, Xuan Canh, Dong Hoi) have a total investment of about 4,332 billion VND.
The total area of recovery and site clearance is about 62.53ha with a total estimated number of about 701 cases of land acquisition (412 cases of residential land, 280 cases of agricultural land and land of organizations and public land), of which expected to resettle about 257 cases of residential land and resettlement of Long Doi Pagoda.
Regarding the handover of the site, on April 18, 2025, the districts of Tay Ho, Long Bien, and Dong Anh received the handover of boundary markers to serve compensation, support, and resettlement.
The leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee assigned 3 districts to focus on site clearance for the remaining area within the project scope according to the process and regulations to promptly hand over clean land for project construction.
For the investment project to build Tu Lien bridge across the Red River, Duong River and the two ends of the bridge (from the intersection with Nghi Tam road to the intersection with Truong Sa street). Hanoi assigned the Management Board of the Traffic Construction Project as an investor. The total investment is about VND 15,498 billion.
According to the design, the approach road to Nghi Tam bridge is 48m wide, the Dong Anh bridge is 60m wide. Invest in the construction of bridges: Tu Lien main bridge with a cable-stayed bridge 43m wide (construction of a 500m main girder, tower tower 185m high), cantilever bridge, steel bridge; 2 intersections with Nghi Tam street and the intersection with Truong Sa street, underpass and technical infrastructure works, sidewalks, lighting, architectural lighting, trees...
At the groundbreaking ceremony of the project on May 19, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested contractors to make efforts to complete Tu Lien Bridge within 24 months, bringing the project to the finish line in 2027.
In addition to speeding up progress, the Prime Minister requested that the construction of the Tu Lien bridge project must ensure quality, not increase capital and ensure technical and aesthetic standards.
