Hanoi recalculates the plan to expand the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway

Hanoi reviews and recalculates vehicle traffic and investment scenarios to propose a plan to expand the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway.

Faced with major changes in traffic planning in the southern area of the Capital and the appearance of parallel road axis projects, the investor is reviewing and recalculating vehicle traffic volume to propose appropriate expansion scale for the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway.

Phuong Thanh Transport Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company is recalculating the investment plan to expand the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway in the context of Hanoi's planning having many changes.

According to Mr. Vu Duc Nhan - Deputy General Director of Phuong Thanh Transport Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company, immediately after being approved by the Ministry of Construction as the investor of the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway expansion project, the unit signed a contract to hire consultants to prepare a feasibility study report.

However, during the implementation process, Hanoi has supplemented planning and invested in a number of new projects, affecting the scale and feasibility of the project.

The National Highway 1A spatial axis project associated with urban embellishment and reconstruction has been approved by the Hanoi City People's Council for investment policy according to the PPP method (public-private partnership), BT contract type (build - transfer). The project is expected to expand National Highway 1A section from Le Duan intersection to the end of the city (Dai Xuyen intersection), more than 36km long, with a scale of 16 lanes (90m cross-section).

In addition, the project of the Hong River scenic avenue from Hong Ha bridge to Me So bridge is being implemented, and is expected to extend to Phu Xuyen in the future.

The master plan of the Capital with a 100-year vision is being built, which includes the content of adjusting the southern transport system of the city. Notably, the southern expressway, with a scale of 6 - 10 lanes, connecting Ngoc Hoi - Phu Xuyen, has been added to the plan.

The southern main road of Hanoi, connecting Ha Dong with Phu Xuyen, is also planned in the direction of the expressway.

The addition of planning along with new toll-free projects may affect traffic flow, scale and investment plan for the Phap Van - Cau Gie route. Therefore, Phuong Thanh Transport Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company is assigning a design consulting unit to recalculate future traffic flow, as a basis for reporting and proposing appropriate scale, avoiding waste of resources.

Also according to Mr. Vu Duc Nhan, many investment scenarios are being researched and calculated by businesses, including cases where Hanoi projects are implemented synchronously, exploited on schedule, and cases where projects are put into operation at different times and stages.
