Terminating the operation of the National Traffic Safety Committee from June 1, 2026

The Prime Minister decided to terminate operations and dissolve the National Traffic Safety Committee and the Traffic Safety Boards of localities from June 1, 2026.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has just signed Decision No. 17/2026/QD-TTg dated April 15, 2026, terminating operations and dissolving the National Traffic Safety Committee (ATGT) and the Traffic Safety Boards of localities.

The decision clearly states: Terminating operations, dissolving the National Traffic Safety Committee after completing the transfer of functions, tasks, personnel, finances, assets, dossiers, documents and related contents to relevant ministries, agencies, and localities according to the dissolution plan attached to this decision.

Terminate the operation of the Traffic Safety Boards of localities. Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and cities decide and organize the dissolution of the Traffic Safety Boards in localities in accordance with the law on the organization and operation of inter-sectoral coordination organizations.

The arrangement and coordination of handling of traffic order and safety in localities is carried out according to the authority and regulations of law.

The decision clearly states the plan to dissolve the National Traffic Safety Committee and the Traffic Safety Boards of localities as follows:

For the National Traffic Safety Committee, ministries and ministerial-level agencies within the scope of their functions, tasks, and powers are responsible for receiving and organizing the implementation of relevant tasks previously performed by the National Traffic Safety Committee according to regulations, ensuring that they do not interrupt the work of ensuring order and traffic safety.

The Ministry of Public Security, according to its assigned functions and tasks, performs the task of monitoring and summarizing the situation, coordinating with ministries, branches, and localities in ensuring traffic order and safety; summarizing data and reporting periodically or unexpectedly at the request of the Government and the Prime Minister; organizing the reception of specialized personnel, dossiers, documents and tasks of the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee for tasks under its assigned functions and tasks.

The Ministry of Construction arranges and assigns civil servants and employees of the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee and other related positions according to regulations; in cases exceeding authority, the Ministry of Construction proposes handling plans and reports to the Prime Minister.

At the same time, receive dossiers, documents and tasks of the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee for tasks according to assigned functions and tasks; organize the receipt of finances, assets, and working equipment of the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee in accordance with the law.

In necessary cases, the Ministry of Finance guides the handling of funds, finances, and assets so that ministries, branches, and localities can continue to organize the implementation of tasks to ensure order and traffic safety in accordance with the law.

The National Traffic Safety Committee shall organize the review, finalization, settlement and handover (if any) of financial, asset, and related dossiers, and close transaction accounts in accordance with the law.

Hand over the seal and certificate of registration of the seal sample to the agency that issued it according to the provisions of law; hand over financial, asset, working equipment, and related dossiers and documents to ministries and sectors to receive work under their functions and tasks.

This decision takes effect from June 1, 2026.
