Mr. Dao Trong Duc - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Council, Vice Chairman of the City Election Committee - chaired the Press Conference to inform about the preparation for the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and the election of People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term.
According to Mr. Dao Trong Duc, up to now, the election deployment in the city is being carried out with a high sense of responsibility, proactiveness, initiative and synchronization; the direction, inspection, and guidance are being implemented promptly, ensuring compliance with the provisions of the law on elections. The Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the City Party Committee's Steering Committee for Elections have promptly issued leadership and direction documents on election work. The City Election Commission and levels, sectors, and localities proactively deployed work steps in accordance with regulations, in which many contents were completed earlier than the set schedule.
Up to now, the preparation for the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term in the city has been carried out thoughtfully, ensuring progress according to the National Election Council's Plan.
Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee Nguyen Hai Binh said that the work of introducing, consulting, and compiling candidate lists is carried out democratically, publicly, and in accordance with regulations.
The City Election Commission has received 33 applications for National Assembly deputies and 157 applications for City People's Council deputies; the commune level received 4,414 applications for commune-level People's Council deputies. After rounds of consultation, the preliminary list of candidates was selected with a reasonable combination structure, ensuring diversity in gender, age and composition.
The organization of conferences to collect opinions and confidences from voters at the place of residence has been seriously implemented. As a result, 32/33 candidates for National Assembly deputies and 156/157 candidates for City People's Council deputies achieved 100% confidence.
The work of compiling and listing voter lists was carried out on schedule. The whole city has listed 3,189,339 voters at 2,577 polling stations. The application of information technology and the exploitation of the national population database have been deployed synchronously, effectively serving the work of compiling voter lists, printing voter cards and managing election information.
Representatives of the Hai Phong City Department of Home Affairs said: In the work to be prepared for the upcoming election day, the city has compiled a specific list of voters for vulnerable people who need support during the voting process. The city determined that there are about 5,000 people who need voting support. These are elderly people, wounded soldiers, disabled people, sick people...
The City Election Commission has also guided communes and wards to prepare a team of volunteers and youth unions to support those who come to vote; Arrange vehicles to support vulnerable people to conveniently arrange ballot boxes. In special cases, the working group will bring ballot boxes to their homes so that people can vote, ensuring citizens' rights and voting rights.
