On March 10, Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority said: To grasp the impacts of businesses due to the conflict situation in the Middle East region, Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority has sent documents to units on ensuring maritime safety and maritime security for ships and crew members operating in the Middle East region; Document on coordinating the provision of ship information traveling through the Middle East region sent to sea transport enterprises; Vietnam Ship Owners Association; Vietnam Association of Agents, Brokers and Maritime Services; Vietnam Logistics Business Association; Crew Supply Companies; ship captains.
According to Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority, as of March 9, the Ship and Boat Procedures Department of the Port Authority has contacted 19 shipping lines, 38 port enterprises, and shipping agents to summarize information about the impact of the conflict in the Middle East region.
Shipbuilding companies have announced the temporary suspension of receiving orders to and from the Middle East region. For orders on ships to the Middle East region, they will change direction, unload goods at another suitable port and all related costs are borne by customers. For orders on the way through the Middle East region to other areas, they will change direction and the shipping company will collect additional fees.
MSC operates about 20 containers/month, CMA CGM operates about 40 containers/week through the Hai Phong seaport area, so it does not affect the operation of the port and shipping lines, other companies do not have specific information but there is preliminary information that it has not been affected.
Maersk has announced the temporary suspension of all incoming and outgoing orders from the Middle East region (except for transit at Salalah - Oman to non-Northern Gulf countries).
Hai Linh Port reported: Currently, imports are from Nghi Son and Dung Quat (for gasoline and oil) and from China (for LPG and Jet A1). Currently, commodity prices (gasoline, LPG and Jet A1) have all increased sharply. Cargo rates have also started to increase with transport contracts signed from today.
Dinh Vu Euro Port: Cargo volume and number of ships decrease, in the next 7 days, the number of ships entering the port to load goods will decrease significantly compared to before.
Dai Hai Port: Currently there are no fluctuations, but in April, the supplier has not committed the volume of goods and price. The port forecasts that the volume of goods imported will only reach about 10-15%.
The remaining port businesses reported not being affected by the conflict in the Middle East region.
Some Vietnamese shipping lines such as Vosco, Hai An, Binh Minh, Vinaship are not affected. Port businesses report not being affected by the conflict.
Previously, according to the Hai Phong port authority, Tan Binh Marine Transport Co., Ltd. reported that the ship Tan Binh 345 (Panama nationality) had just finished loading at Khalifa port in the UAE and shipped to the waiting anchorage area, with 22 Vietnamese crew members on board, currently the crew members are still safe.
Hai Duong Maritime Co., Ltd. reported that Hai Duong 09 ship (Panama nationality) is anchored at Dammam port in Saudi Arabia, with 18 Vietnamese crew members on board, and the crew members are still safe.
For port businesses, Euro Dinh Vu Port informed that a customer, Hai Phong Gas Company, announced the cancellation of the ship's arrival plan due to lack of supply.
