On March 18, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho chaired a meeting with departments, branches and units to listen to reports on the handover of preliminary boundary documents for site clearance for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway construction investment project passing through the city. Also attending the meeting were representatives of the Railway Project Management Board - Ministry of Construction.
The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong Railway Construction Investment Project, the section passing through Hai Phong City, has a main route length of 46.18km and 2 branch routes of 20.57km from Nam Hai Phong Station to Nam Do Son Station and from Nam Dinh Vu Technical Station to Dinh Vu Station. The design speed of the main route is 160km/hour; the branch route is 80km/hour.
After listening to the representative of the Railway Management Board (Ministry of Construction) report on the timeline and progress of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong Railway Project; the city's departments, branches and localities report on the work related to site clearance, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho emphasized: The implementation of this Project has a great impact on the socio-economic development of Hai Phong City. The project will gradually develop modern railway transportation, meeting the needs of passenger and cargo transportation on the East-West corridor, as a trading gateway with the world through the city's seaports as well as connecting international railway transportation at Lao Cai border gate. Hai Phong City has pioneered the contribution of 11,000 VND to implement a number of project items, contributing to promoting the project's rapid implementation,
To ensure the progress of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong National Railway Key Project, Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Tho suggested that the Railway Management Board (Ministry of Construction) soon complete and unify the location and heart of the section passing through the city, especially the parallel section of the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway, thereby helping the city soon have a basis to implement plans related to inventory, land acquisition, and construction of resettlement areas. The Vice Chairman also requested the Project Management Board to urgently update the city's proposal and recommendation on the plan to integrate the railway bridge with the Tan Vu - Lach Huyen 2 and 3 intersections on the route into the project investment policy approval report.
On the side of the city's departments and branches, Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Tho requested that the Department of Construction coordinate with the Railway Management Board (Ministry of Construction) to receive documents and information related to the Project and urgently complete the procedures for guidance for districts; the Department of Finance, together with related units, actively advise and soon arrange capital for the Project in 2025 to immediately carry out site clearance and investment in resettlement areas.
Previously, at the Government Conference with localities on February 21, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung pledged to contribute VND 11,000 billion to implement the Lao Cai - Hai Phong railway project. Of which, VND6,000 billion will be used for site clearance and more than VND5,000 billion will be invested in the construction of a branch section directly connecting to the seaport.
