According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on October 21, 2024, there is an active tropical depression in the eastern region of the Philippines. At 4:00 p.m. on October 21, 2024, the center of the tropical depression was at about 13.5 degrees North latitude; 131.0 degrees East longitude, about 1,300 km southeast of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 7 (50-61 km/h), gusting to level 9. It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move mainly in the West-Northwest direction and is likely to strengthen into a storm.
At 4:00 p.m. on October 22, the center of the storm was located at approximately 14.8 degrees North latitude; 127.1 degrees East longitude, in the sea east of the Philippines. The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 8 (62-75 km/h), gusting to level 11. Waves were 3-4m high.
To proactively respond to the tropical depression, the City People's Committee requests departments, branches, sectors and People's Committees of districts to strictly manage means of transport going to sea; organize counting and notify owners of means of transport, aquaculture cages, captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of the tropical depression to proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas.
The City People's Committee also requested units to be ready with forces and means for rescue when required; organize serious on-duty shifts, closely monitor the development of the tropical depression, be ready to respond to possible bad situations; promptly report to the Standing Agency for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development), the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of the city.
The City People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (Standing Agency for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control) to regularly and closely monitor weather developments; proactively advise the City's Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense, and the City People's Committee on response instructions.
