On January 31, Mr. Doan Cong Hoang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Ha commune, Dak Glong district, Dak Nong province confirmed that a tragic drowning incident had just occurred in the commune, killing two children.
At around 5:30 p.m. on January 30, the family of Mr. T (41 years old, temporarily residing in village 3, Dak Ha commune) did not see their two children, C (7 years old) and Q (6 years old), so they panicked and went looking for them.
Later, the family discovered that the two children had drowned in a homemade pond about 100 meters from their home.
Mr. T and his relatives performed first aid and took the two children to Dak Nong General Hospital for emergency treatment, but both did not survive.
After the incident, local authorities verified the case and visited and encouraged the victim's family.
The pond where the drowning accident occurred was dug by a household and covered with a tarp to store irrigation water during the dry season. The pond has vertical walls and is quite deep.
Previously, at noon on January 29, 2025, in Dak R’mang commune, Dak Glong district, Dak Nong province, a drowning incident also occurred, killing a child. The victim was X (7 years old, temporarily residing in village 5, Dak R’mang commune).
X also fell into an irrigation pond about 1km from home.
Recently, in Dak Nong province, there have been many deaths due to drowning, the victims are mainly primary and secondary school students.
Accidents often occur in ponds, dams, and man-made reservoirs used to store water for irrigation during the dry season.
